Former Giants closer Brian Wilson attempting comeback as beardless knuckleballer

According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Wilson, who has had two Tommy John surgeries in his career, threw a 30-minute bullpen session at USC on Wednesday, where most of his pitches were knuckleballs.

Wilson told Brown he always envisioned coming back to baseball throwing the pitch. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2014.

I always said that once my career was over I was coming back as a knuckleballer, Wilson said. I’m good with it. Man, I get to play a game. It’s going to be pretty fun.

If Ventura’s death over the weekend in a car crash in the Dominican Republic is determined to have been an accident, then the remaining money would go to his estate. The Royals, who had insurance on the contract, would be reimbursed for an amount that hasn’t been determined yet, Fox Sports said, again citing unidentified sources.

Funeral services for Ventura, who was 25 when he died, will be Tuesday in his hometown of Las Terrenas in the Dominican Republic.
